Sandalford Estate Reserve, Shiraz, 2009
Visited this vineyard during my recent trip to Perth with Wifey, Mummio, Sonny and Girlie. Beautiful vineyard with a very majestic entrance. We had a nice meal at the vineyard with our buddies. Sonny and Girlie were having fun running around in the open area at the vineyard. Since Daddio didn't come along, the least I could do was buy back a bottle of wine and share with him.
Cherry red in colour. Tannins are pretty big and edgy. Quite oaky and spicy. Good nose of dark berries. Unlike other Shiraz that I've tasted, this red is surprisingly medium bodied. Needs a good hour to breathe. Will be interesting to taste this bottle again after 5 years to see how it has evolved.
